Are you dreading writing for your business? Here’s what I am doing to get out of this slump.

Fall is the season of change and maturing: your business included

Can you smell that? The cool breeze of fall lifts the leaves off their seat as they begin their descent into winter. It’s the smell of the seasons changing. In the city, it’s the exchange of smelly hot trash for the sweet bay breeze flowing through the streets and secretly making its way through the open bay window.

As August closes and September welcomes itself in, my internal desire for new thoughts, new reads, new challenges, and a new me bursts through my veins.

Reignite the passion in your business this fall

Can you relate? Do you love the feeling of a new academic year? If you’re an academic at heart, whose creativity and intrigue rise and fall with the beginning of a new school year, despite the fact that you’re not in school, then you and I agree.

This Fall, instead of reminiscing about past seasons of life where syllabi and textbooks flooded my desk, I am choosing to embrace this seasonal change. The Lord made my love Fall, so I welcome it as a time to refocus as the “true me” comes alive. Remember, the desire for something new doesn’t have to be limited to academia, it can be reconfigured as a time to refocus and to grow our businesses.

The last season of my business was plagued by my attempt to push the square toy through the circle opening, which left me irritated and led to moments of dreading writing. Instead of continuing to forcefully push the metaphorical square toy, which is my offering and business schedule, I’ve taken a step back. This fall is about identifying what offers will help my ideal client, bring me joy in this current season of my life, and still use the skills that the Lord has given me to serve other business owners.

Stop dreading your work this Fall: steal my to-do list to reignite the passion

The truth is that I am a much better copywriter, business owner, and encourager for other people compared to my ability to do the same task for my own business. One afternoon I sat down and thought, “What would I tell someone else to do if they were in my situation?”

Here’s what I came up with:

  1. Advertise one paid offer
  2. Advertise one freebie that most aligns with your ideal client
  3. Write weekly blogs
  4. Write weekly emails
  5. Create social media content that is pulled from the weekly blogs and emails

Now, you might be looking at this list and thinking that this is just way too much to handle. But, is it really?

If you’re anything like me, which I think since you’re still reading this, you are, you’re probably spending hours on social media creating Reels and posting Stories somewhat aimlessly. This takes more of your work time than you probably realize.

Instead of posting anything in the moment reserve time in the next week to complete the list above. Do you know the best part of the list I gave you above? Once you’ve identified the offer and freebie to market, the blogs and email topics naturally develop.
