1. Give your target audience another reason to visit your site without prompting them to make a purchase.
Blogs aren’t just for bloggers that make their entire living off of writing educational, inspiring, or motivating content for their subscribers – now they’re for everyone. Blogs are an excellent way for product or service-based businesses and nonprofits to guide their audience back to their site over and over again without immediately prompting them to make a purchase or donation.
It’s reported that nine out of ten consumers do something other than purchase the first time that they visit a business’s website, so let’s get started with that blog! Let’s give people a reason to go to your website and learn more about your business or nonprofit while enjoying the content that you’re providing. Once a consumer is on your website it’s more likely they will make a purchase because your blogs will direct them on what to do next (make a purchase, sign up for your emails, make a donation, etc.), and give them a reason to come back to read your next blog.
2. Engaging content and (researched) keywords in your blogs will help you appear in browser searches
What’s one way that new people see your website if they don’t know who you are? Well, you show up in a browser search when they use a keyword that’s related to your industry and/or niche. Post regular blogs that include keywords that are relevant to your industry and are what your target audience is looking for, then you’re much more likely to appear on searches for new people within your target audience to find you. The key is knowing your target audience well and researching keywords to use in your blogs.
3. Prove to the internet bots that your website is alive and well with regularly updated blogs (I suggest weekly blogs)
When browsers are delivering search results to their users they are going to favor websites that have been updated more recently and frequently than others. Think of it this way, do you get excited about companies that obviously haven’t been updated recently, or within the year? Service-based businesses and nonprofits don’t have new offers as often as product-based businesses do, so it’s harder to rank higher on internet searches without using a blog to keep your website updated. Additionally, it proves to humans looking at your website that you know your industry, and care about providing quality and enjoyable content to your audience. Nobody likes to feel used, and providing free information to your customers is a valuable way to gain their trust.
